I haven’t written poetry in years… So I’m stepping out of my comfort zone by sharing this piece of me here…

The Paradox of Pain

By: Jen Miller

Written on June 25th, 2024

Pain lingers…

a whisper in my mind,

triggered by moments,

leaving peace behind.

The heart, a fortress,

slowly mending its broken walls,

caught in memories’ grasp,

in darkness, it falls.

From a storm-tossed ship,

finding its way through the relentless sea,

to the warmth of the sun,

breaking through dense clouds, setting me free.

How can joy and light,

be eclipsed by shadows of the past?

When fear’s echo resounds,

and tranquility feels so vast?

Wave after wave,

my heart races to escape,

a shadowy maze,

where confusion takes shape.

Yet, here I stand,

a warrior in the night,

seeking the light,

ready for the fight.

A call to resilience,

a spark in the night,

finding strength within,

where despair has left its mark.

In the labyrinth of my soul,

each step forward, a victory won,

through adversity, I rise,

my battle has just begun.

The paradox of pain,

a testament to my might,

in the face of darkness,

I am my own guiding light.

With each dawn,

in the warmth of the sun’s rays,

I conquer the storm within,

navigating through life’s maze.

I welcome you on this journey,

together, we’ll find the way,

to overcome, to heal,

and greet each new day.
